The idler who does not exert himself when he should,
who though young and strong is full of sloth,
with a mind full of vain thoughts—
such an indolent man does not find the path to wisdom.
Uṭṭhānakālamhi anuṭṭhahāno,
Yuvā balī ālasiyaṁ upeto;
Saṁsannasaṅkappamano kusīto,
Paññāya maggaṁ alaso na vindati.
ပျိုမျစ်နုထွား ခွန်အားနှင့် ပြည့်စုံပါသော်လည်း ထကြွသင့်သောအခါ၌ ထကြွမှု လုံ့လမရှိဘဲ ပျင်းရိထိုင်းမှိုင်းလျက် စိတ်အကြံ ‘ဝိတက်’ များ၍ အလွန် ပျင်းရိသူသည် ပညာဖြင့်သာ ရယူနိုင်သော အရိယမဂ်ကို မရနိုင်။
